The fairest flower in Mawbry is Erienne Fleming, the enchanting, raven-haired daughter of the village mayor. Notify me of followup comments via e-mail. She long relished creating original narratives, and by age 6 was telling herself stories at night to help herself fall asleep. Very few in this book weren’t perverts with one-track minds, and everywhere Erienne went, guys were peaking at her cleavage or hitting on her, all in ways that would merit a sexual harassment suit nowadays.
As time passes, Erienne learns to appreciate his nature but at the same time, the handsome Christopher Seton acts like a true cunning fox, trying to disgrace her with his passion while she trusts him more than her own husband, which is naivety in its pure form. They set up a heroine that was clearly young and quick to have an opinion, but you kind of felt for her because her dad kept bringing her creeps that he hoped she’d marry so they could pay off their debts.

It got to the point where I just couldn’t stand him and I found Erienne’s weak opposition to his advances quite perplexing. The Designs of Lord Randolph Cavanaugh. She was now Lady Saxton, mistress of a great manor all but ruined by fire, wife to a man whose mysteriously shrouded form aroused fear and pity.
I was always rooting for him.

In fact it was the second adult romance I ever read. Seton offers but both Erienne and her father Avery reject Seton’s proposal because they supposedly hate him.
